Canada PR July 2020 Intake: 13,645 Immigration Candidates Invited!

The intake for Canada PR in July 2020 had come down by 63% in comparison with last July. In total, 13,645 PR candidates were invited to settle in Canada in July 2020.
Candidates of Canada immigration generally opt to move to Canada during the warm summer season. Also, most of them wish to enroll their children in school before the commencement of the academic year across Canada in later part of August and early September. Canada’s July 2020 intake saw a lesser intake of candidates as compared to the 19,200 immigrants which Canada invited in June 2020. Before June, Canada invited 11,000 immigrants in May and only 4,000 in April. Canada’s PR intake tumbled in April because Canada had introduced travel restrictions.
However, currently the approved Canada PR applicants are eligible to move to Canada as of now despite of the travel restrictions in place. The July immigration numbers have plummeted down because of the current epidemic related hurdles. Travelling is still difficult during the epidemic, with flights going in and coming out of certain international borders being scarce since the month of March.
Key Factors
- Express Entry draws continue to be held on every 2 weeks since March.
- IRCC has issued more Express Entry ITAs for Canada PR on a year-over-year criteria.
- As of the last Express Entry on September 2nd, IRCC issued 69,950 ITAs this year as compared to 56,200 at the same point in 2019.
- The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has continued to function.
- Canada stays committed to its 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan.
Canada is still working on immigration application process during the epidemic and issuing new ITAs to successful applicants. IRCC is expecting that the overall Canada PR figures will skyrocket after the pandemic is over.
